A near perfect Drunk Elephant Protini dupe??

Updated: May 9, 2023

I've been wanting to share this for a while. I think this is one of the greatest dupes of all time.

I had about a year long love affair with Protini from when it was released. I loved the light-weight gel texture that is insanely moisturizing as well as how little product was needed to cover my whole face. I subsisted on samples of this stuff for months. AKA for free. I mean, I also acquired it through kits, sets, and GWP's, but I never bought the full size product because it was too dang expensive. And, knowing me, I tend to fall out of love with a product before I've used up the whole thing.

When I heard that Acure had an excellent dupe for $20, I Googled immediately. Upon first glance, it looked like there was a lot in the ingredients that was similar (marula oil, peptides), but what I wanted to know was did it feel the same? Only one way to find out! 💸💸💸

I love Acure as a brand and have been using their haircare products for years. It is a brand that is readily available at Target or Whole Foods. This was my first venture into their skincare line.

At the surface level, the products are indistinguishable in any meaningful way. Colour wise, the Acure cream is a little bit more opaque. Texture wise it's the same. When you put it down and it sinks in, it feels the same. Both are unscented. From using both, I can't notice a difference performance wise.

Acure's cream has the addition of ferulic acid and vitamin C which are great anti-oxidant ingredients. They are a power duo in the Mother of all Vitamin C serums, Skinceutical's CE Ferulic. Who doesn't love fighting off those nasty oxidants in your sleep, right? As far as I can tell, Acure's cream has more to offer than DE's.

Pricing wise, Drunk Elephant's product is $68 for 50mL, and Acure's is $20.

Are you ready for the ingredients list???? (Ingredients in common are highlighted.)
